Company Profile
Sky Sports Radio has been broadcasting the very best of thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing to its state-wide audience for over 34 of its 84 year history.
The National Racing Service is broadcast on Sky Sports Radio daily throughout NSW. Each week over 1500 races are broadcast live as well as the corresponding pre-race and post race form and TAB betting information.
Sky Sports Radio covers the Sydney metropolitan area via its five kilowatt transmitter located at Homebush. Adding to this Sydney footprint are over 104 narrowcast transmitters ensuring the Sky Sports Radio signal is heard in areas as far north as Tweed Heads, south to Bega, and west to Broken Hill. These narrowcast transmitters ensure a true state-wide coverage.
Racing enthusiasts and serious punters should be sure to tune in to Inside Running with Andrew Bensley, each Saturday from 06.30. Andrew, along with Ron Dufficy and a team of respected form analysts look for the winners around Australia and pass all of the vital information to help you find the winning edge.
While racing is the backbone of the company, we pride ourselves on giving our audience a variety of niche sporting programs with associated sports betting information.
The flagship of these programs is the Big Sports Breakfast with Terry Kennedy and Michael Slater. The program goes to air each weekday morning from 5:30-9:00 and is the state's only all sports breakfast show.
Big name national and international sports stars join the Big Sports Breakfast and with a strong team of regular contributors, including Test cricketer Stuart Clark, former league stars Wendell Sailor and Paul “Fatty” Vautin, and former AFL star Peter "Spida” Everitt, we keep you up to date with the latest news and views of your favourite sports.
Other programs to have found a loyal audience at Sky Sports Radio include Raceday with popular host Greg Radley (weekdays from 9.00am), rugby league's decibel duo on Hollywood and Zorba (Sunday 0700-1000 during the rugby league season), Football Fever hosted by SBS’s Les Murray and Damien Lovelock (Sunday 21.00-23.00) and Sky Sports Radio’s exclusive live coverage of the English Premier League, hosted by Andy Paschalidis (from September to May each year).
This unique blend of high calibre racing and general sports coverage broadcast state-wide has made Sky Sports Radio one of the leaders in sporting coverage in N.S.W.
Sky Sports Radio has also pioneered new digital radio technology with rich data displays and exclusive sports content currently available on the Sky Sports Radio digital channels. In 2010 more live racing and sports-betting entertainment will be added to the digital service.
Digital radio provides listeners with a richer experience with the broadcasting of text, such as TAB racing and sports odds, tips and results as well as special promotions. The new digital service is available to Sydney metropolitan listeners only at this stage.
